An Adventure Begins
We are so excited to share our journey together with you. Turns out, purchasing a boat can actually be pretty stressful, even if you have great sellers and a great broker! We are so grateful to JMYS (https://jmys.com/) for helping us find Le Chèile. Everything was well coordinated for the survey, haul-out, sea trial, and purchase. AWS has a saying that there is “no compression algorithm for experience”. The folks at JMYS specialize in trawlers and have many years experience in the space. Their knowledge and guidance both before and after the sale have been invaluable.
Two generations of Selene Owners after a long survey
A broker can only help so much. While there is much debate online about who makes the best or real ocean-going trawler. Apple vs. PC debates of yore then ensue. We thought we knew how complex the systems on a trawler were when we started this process. We sure underestimated that complexity. Different brands have their pros and cons for sure but what matters the most is how the boat was cared for and maintained. There simply is no substitute for management and upkeep on the voluminous amount of “stuff” that a boat of this caliber needs. Todd & Susie invested so much into this boat and we will be forever grateful for the care they invested.
Our first night together on Le Chèile
Once we closed we started the process to get comfortable and acquainted with our boat. Having that hydronic heat in the cold weather sure is nice and cozy! We have many projects and cruises planned on the horizon and will post updates here.
